Eligibility - Ad eundum gradum

To be eligible to apply for ad eundum gradum assessment, you must hold the appropriate qualification from New Zealand or Canada, and meet the listed conditions for that specific country.

New Zealand

If you are a doctor who has successfully achieved Fellowship by passing the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioner examinations (FRNZCGP) you may apply for ad eundum gradum Fellowship.  This may result in Fellowship without further examination if you meet the following conditions:

  1. You are certificant Fellow in good standing of the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners
  2. You have documented evidence of experience and or training in the scope of practice for rural medicine 
  3. You will be seeking to practice in Australia, and
  4. You are currently compliant with the continuing professional development requirements of the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners.
Note: Holders of the Fellowship of the Division of Rural Hospital Medicine New Zealand (FDRHMNZ) are also only eligible to apply through ACRRM’s Specialist Pathway.

    Canada

    If you are a doctor who has successfully achieved certification by passing the College of Family Physicians of Canada Certification examination in Family Medicine (CCFP), you may apply for ad eundum gradum Fellowship.  This may result in Fellowship without further examination so long as you meet the following conditions:

    1. You are certificant member in good standing of the College of Family Physicians Canada
    2. You have completed two years of post-graduate training in family medicine accredited by the College of Family Physicians Canada
    3. You have documented evidence of experience and or training in the scope of practice for rural medicine 
    4. You be seeking to practice in Australia, and
    5. You are currently compliant with the continuing professional development requirements of the College of Family Physicians Canada.

    Note: 

    • Only physicians with the Certificate in Family Medicine from College of Family Physicians Canada (CFPC) + Evidence of Canadian Qualifying Examinations Part 1 +2 post 1992 can apply for Fellowship ad eundum gradum.
    • Holders of the CFPC pre 1992 on certification of the College of Family Physicians Canada can apply through ACRRM’s Specialist Pathway.
