Eligibility - emergency medicine

General practitioner

The Rural Procedural Grants Program supports GPs practising emergency medicine in ASGC-RA 2-5. If you are maintaining or upgrading your skills in emergency medicine you may be eligible. Emergency medicine GPs undertaking rural hospital-based work can be eligible for this component.

Rural and remote emergency medicine GP [more]

For this component, a rural and remote emergency medicine GP is: A rural and remote practitioner who provides emergency medicine cover for non-referred services in an accident and emergency facility which is available for 24 hours triaging (hospital or other appropriately equipped facility - which provides a minimum equipment list of, but not restricted to: intubation, cannulation and defibrillation equipment), rapid diagnosis and management of the acute and urgent aspects of illness and injury such as those typically brought to the door by ambulance

It is recognised that in some remote communities, these services can be substituted at times by remote triage and retrieval.

GP registrar

If you are a GP registrar complete this questionnaire to ascertain your eligibility.

Are you a GP registrar in ASGC-RA 2-5?
Are you unable to access equivalent educational support through your vocational training?
Have you successfully completed a 12 month Advanced Specialist Post and assessments in emergency medicine (which has been ratified) through your College (ACRRM or RACGP)?
Do you hold unsupervised clinical privileges in emergency medicine (certification must be obtained from a hospital credentialing committee or local area health)?
Do you have evidence of regular participation in an on-call roster providing emergency medicine cover?
Unfortunately, you are not currently eligible.

Locum

If you are a locum complete this questionnaire to ascertain your eligibility.

Do you practise as a locum in an ASGC-RA 2-5 locality?
Can you provide proof of clinical privileges in emergency medicine from at least one hospital in which you performed locum work?
Have you undertaken a minimum of one month (28 days) of locum work per financial year, or undertaken locum placements on eight occasions per financial year?
Can you provide evidence, in the form of a letter, from your employer or a personal declaration stating that you have completed or will be completing the required amount of days?

Ineligible

  • GPs seeking to attend training to attain skills in emergency medicine are not eligible for this program.
