Dermatological Surgery and Procedures Workshops

The workshop content is delivered by dermatologists who are Fellows of the Australasian College of Dermatologists. It covers both basic and advanced surgical skills in practical hand-on pigs belly sessions.

Participants will be able to explain how to perform dermoscopy, cryotherapy, biopsies, electrodessication and curettage, intralesional steroid injection, suturing, flaps (advancement, rotation, transposition, island pedicle), and skin grafts (split and full thickness).

Participants will be able to describe the appropriate circumstances in which to perform dermoscopy, cryotherapy, biopsies, electrodessication and curettage, intralesional steroid injection, suturing, flaps (advancement, rotation, transposition, island pedicle), and skin grafts (split and full thickness).

Participants will be able to describe the risks and complications relating to dermoscopy, cryotherapy, biopsies, electrodessication and curettage, intralesional steroid injection, suturing, flaps (advancement, rotation, transposition, island pedicle), and skin grafts (split and full thickness).

Participants will be able to explain when and how to use non-surgical treatments for skin cancer.Participants will undertake practical instruction in performing biopsies, suturing and flaps.Participants will be able to develop a surgical risk management checklist for use in their practice.

Please note: Before you participate in this workshop, you will need to successfully complete Module 4: Practical Procedures in Dermatology.
