ACRRM at National Digital Health Workforce and Education Summit

General Manager of Quality and Safety, Sean Mutchmor attended the National Digital Health Workforce and Education Summit in Sydney this week. This crucial Summit brought together leading academics, industry, policy makers, consumers and healthcare workers nationally to discuss and collaborate on the draft National Digital Health Workforce and Education Roadmap (the Roadmap) to support the Australian health workforce in the global transformation to a digital health future. Sean met with the Digital Health Agency to work towards a 2020 plan to better inform them of the needs of rural clinicians.

  • Senior Policy and Development Officer, Jenny Johnson, attended a workshop in Sydney earlier this week to discuss the proposed Rules and Regulations associated with the Medical and Midwife Indemnity Legislation Amendment Bill 2019, which was passed earlier in the year. The Bill is designed to streamline the medical indemnity support schemes. The existing indemnity support for rural proceduralists and the universal coverage provisions have been maintained. It is anticipated that the new arrangements will be implemented in July 2020, but scheme participants should not notice any significant changes to the schemes or their administration.
  • Business Systems and Integration Manager, Simon Haidley, and AGPT Transitions Manager, Scott Bilby, visited Canberra this week to meet with the Department of Health on data exchange as part of the transition project.
  • President Ewen McPhee attended the Committee of Presidents’ of Medical Colleges meeting in Sydney earlier this week. 
  • ACRRM CEO Marita Cowie and President Ewen McPhee will attend the Primary Care Reform meeting in Melbourne next week (25-26 November). 
  • Marita will attend the General Practice Training Advisory Committee (GPTAC) meeting in Sydney next week (26 November) and the Practice Incentives Program Advisory Group (PIPAG) meeting in Canberra (27 November).
