The Department of Health and Healthdirect Australia are continuing to simplify the Vaccine Clinic Finder to help consumers access COVID-19 vaccines.

On 28 October, following the Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI) recommendations, Healthdirect updated the Vaccine Clinic Finder to include advice on:

  • third doses for immunocompromised people
  • boosters.

From 3 November, the entire Vaccine Clinic Finder will be translated into 15 languages (plus English). The following features have also been removed:

  • the ‘next’ button
  • the age question
  • the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander question.

**Removing the age question makes it simpler for people to access appointments, however  it reduces controls over the vaccines people can access through the Vaccine Clinic Finder. Vaccine providers, please continue to comply with medical guidelines for vaccines. Pfizer and Moderna are available to people aged 12 and over; AstraZeneca is available to people aged 18 and over.

Based on feedback, national solutions such as the Vaccine Clinic Finder, continue to be improved to make them simpler and easier to use.

About the Vaccine Clinic Finder

The Vaccine Clinic Finder remains the most popular online channel to find and book a COVID-19 vaccination. It is unique in that it is the only place that offers real-time appointment availability and connection to clinic booking platforms, helping vaccine providers maximise their vaccine appointments and streamlining the booking process for consumers.

If your clinic is listed as ‘phone only’ in the Vaccine Clinic Finder, but you have a digital booking system, check with your vendor that the url can be surfaced.

If you don’t have a booking engine, the Commonwealth encourages practices to get one of those on the compatible list on Healthdirect Australia’s Vaccine Clinic Finder Compatible Software Register
