The Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM) congratulates Dr Michael Wright on his election as incoming president of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP).

Dr Wright’s two-year term will begin in late November, when he officially takes over from Dr Nicole Higgins.

ACRRM President Dr Dan Halliday says the College looks forward to working with Dr Wright on joint College initiatives.

“ACRRM and RACGP are working together on important bi-College projects including recognition of Rural Generalist Medicine as a specialty within the specialty of general practice, the continued delivery of cultural education and cultural mentorship through the Joint College Training Services, and the new Advanced Skills Training placement project” Dr Halliday says.

“ACRRM is also undergoing elections for a new president, who will be inaugurated at our Annual General Meeting in October.

“The ACRRM election closes on Monday.

“I also acknowledge the collaborative work of current RACGP President, Dr Nicole Higgins in fostering a strong and respectful working relationship between our colleges.

“ACRRM commits to ensuring the transition in leadership enables all bi-College work to continue in a professional and effective manner.”
