Through the Joint Colleges Training Services (JCTS), the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM) and the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) are delivering shared General Practitioner (GP) training activities for the Colleges' respective Fellowship training programs. This includes the development and delivery of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health strategic plans, cultural education and cultural mentorship, the provision of Registrar housing in some remote Northern Territory communities, and other potential areas of collaboration.
Our first and most important priority is to ensure continuity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Training initiatives and support.
Vision
Strong communities and healthy futures through embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ways in GP Training. The goal of JCTS is to work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to deliver best practice GP training in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health, ensuring generations thrive, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander doctors are nurtured and grown, and every GP is equipped to provide culturally safe healthcare.
About the artwork
This artwork has been produced by Indigenous artist Emma-Louise Mulganai Hollingsworth, and represents intertwining traditional Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and wellness practices with Western medicine, showing that these two medicine systems can exist harmoniously through the correct education and support.
