Rural generalism is recognised as an important field of medicine to support the health of rural and remote communities. There are incentives available to assist eligible doctors in their journey towards becoming a Rural Generalist including, opportunities to reduce their Higher Education Loan Payment (HELP) debt, supported rural placements, and several state specific government incentives which you can browse below.

This program coordinates and funds rural primary care rotations for hospital-based junior doctors to boost training capacity and to encourage working in rural and remote regions.

Doctors will gain skills in managing chronic disease and delivering primary and preventive care, rather than just focusing on acute care in hospitals.

It also boosts your suitability for the ACRRM Fellowship program.

Through an Australian Government initiative, eligible doctors get a reduction in their outstanding HELP debt for residing and providing services in a rural, remote or very remote location. 

ACRRM Fellowship is rural training from day one enabling you to eliminate 100% of your debt by the time you achieve Fellowship.
