The Pre-Hospital Emergency Care (PHEC) course will consolidate the emergency skills you require when working in unfamiliar or uncomfortable environments.

Over the duration of the day, you’ll learn real-world practical skills and participate in a range of emergency scenarios that you may encounter as a Rural Generalist, providing you with the skills required in preparing for patient care situations outside the clinic or hospital.

Created by experienced Rural Generalists and pre-hospital care specialists, PHEC is run outdoors to provide a realistic experience.

Appropriate for: Rural Generalists, Registrars and other medical professionals

Previously named: Pre-Hospital and Retrieval Medicine (PHaRM)

The PHEC course is designed to enable Rural Generalists to learn skills in pre-hospital care and allow them to translate their existing clinical knowledge to the roadside and work effectively with ambulance and retrieval services to deliver meaningful interventions to critically unwell patients.

We've had bushfires, we've had floods, we're going to face disasters in the future, having Rural Generalists with skills in emergency medicine can make a huge difference."

- Dr Tim Leeuwenburg (FACRRM, PHEC facilitator, SandpiperAus Chair, Medical Retrieval Consultant & A/Prof AeroMed)
