The Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care has developed draft Primary Health Care Standards.

Developed in collaboration with primary healthcare providers, consumers, peak professional bodies and Primary Health Networks, the draft standards provide a national framework and strategies to improve safety and quality in primary healthcare, with a focus on delivering consumer-centred care. The Commission has stated that the Standards will not replace the existing General Practice standards or accreditation processes; instead they are intended for health professions other than general practice.

The draft Standards are now open for comment until Friday 27 November 2020. The College will be providing a submission and members are encouraged to provide feedback to inform this. Members are also welcome to make individual submissions.

Visit the Commission’s website to review the draft standards, and to submit your feedback or register to participate in an online consultation forum.

Please provide any feedback to inform the College submission to J.johnson@acrrm.org.au by Monday 16 November 2020.
