July 2022 marked one year since voluntary assisted dying became a choice available to eligible Western Australians at the end of life.

A range of information and resources, including the ‘Voluntary Assisted Dying: Essential information for health professionals’ eLearning program is now available on the WA Department of Health website. This program takes all healthcare workers through the key components of the Act to assist them in understanding their roles, rights and responsibilities in the voluntary assisted dying process. It includes an overview of the voluntary assisted dying process, with additional information for medical practitioners, nurse practitioners and pharmacists.

The voluntary assisted dying webpage contains a range of information resources for community, carers, family members and practitioners.

If you would like to stay up to date with what is happening in end-of-life care in WA, including voluntary assisted dying, please email EOLCare@health.wa.gov.au to subscribe to the End of Life Care Program update.
