The first national Australian Cancer Plan launched in November 2023, is reform opportunity that aims to deliver world class cancer outcomes and experience for all Australians affected by cancer irrespective of their background or location.
Optimal Care Pathways (OCPs) have been embedded in the Plan as national standards of consistent, safe, high-quality, and evidence-based care, including cancer-specific and population-specific OCPs.
The Plan gives priority to the establishment of a National Optimal Care Pathways Framework. A nationally consistent framework for OCPs is needed to standardise the approach to developing, updating, adapting, evaluating and embedding OCPs into cancer care.
This framework will assist health professionals and health services to deliver optimal care that is consistent, safe, high-quality, evidence-based and culturally appropriate.
Feedback is essential for refining and strengthening the draft National OCP Framework.
Visit the Draft OCP Framework Engagement Hub to register for one of our informative webinars and/or to complete the survey. The consultation period closes 8 April 2024.
