Queensland Health is currently considering the role of Physician Assistants (PAs) in its work teams. The College has submitted a response to Queensland Health, developed in consultation with members and the College Council.  The response, while supportive of innovative workforce models, stresses the need to prioritise the existing state health workforce, including RG trainees and supervisors. The College response acknowledges the need for strong governance frameworks; consultative and robust workforce planning mechanisms; protection and prioritisation of existing training and employment opportunities for junior doctors; and for recognition and support for supervisors where appropriate.

A previous ACRRM policy position statement on Physician Assistants will be reviewed and updated to reflect the views expressed by College Council.
