The Department of Health and Aged Care recently introduced the General Practice in Aged Care Incentive. The incentive responds to the issues raised in the Royal Commission into Aged Care and aims to make it easier for older people living in residential aged care homes to receive regular visits and care planning services from their responsible GP and practice.

Prestantia Health been commissioned by the Commonwealth Department of Health and Aged Care to develop a range of assets including webinars and vodcasts to support the implementation of the incentive and expand the conversation to discuss quality primary care for people in aged care homes. Prestantia Health is seeking interested GPs and practice staff panelists (nurses and practice managers) to participate in a panel discussion during these webinars and vodcasts. The purpose is to provide a peer led opportunity to explore the General Practice in Aged Care Incentive and high quality primary and integrated health care.

The webinars and vodcasts will be facilitated by Dr Paresh Dawda. Panelists will be asked to speak to their own experiences of the incentive and providing high quality primary care in an aged care setting, including challenges and opportunities.

All panellists will be renumerated for their time according to Commonwealth guidelines. As a precursor to the vodcasts, both GP specific and general practice care team webinars will be delivered in mid-November. Dates being explored for both sessions include 11, 14, 18 and 19 November, 7.00pm – 9.00pm (AEDT), encompassing 30min set up, 60min webinar, 15-30mins debrief.

If you have a passion for quality primary care and provide services to people living in aged care homes, have experience of implementing the General Practice Incentive and you are interested in participating in the national webinar series please email Amy@prestantiahealth.com as soon as possible.
