Board Members

About Dr Sarah Chalmers

Dr Sarah Chalmers is the Immediate Past President of ACRRM (2020-2022) and has worked in East Arnhem Land for 15 years, before moving to North Queensland in 2019.

She has worked in private general practice, hospitals and remote Aboriginal communities and homelands in the Northern Territory and now works as a Rural Generalist in North Queensland, and as a Senior Lecturer with James Cook University.

She has always been interested in medical education, previously a Senior Lecturer with Flinders University for the Northern Territory Medical Program and has been a supervisor to General Practitioner and Rural Generalist registrars as well as medical students and junior doctors for many years.

Her clinical interests include remote practice, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health, occupational medicine and sports medicine (Rugby Union).

In 2024, Dr Chalmers took on another role with the College as the Clinical Lead, Selection. Sarah works closely with the member engagement team to support continual improvement, assessor recruitment and training (markers and interviewers), review of applicants with conditions and reprimands, and general project work.
