Dr Shannon Nott is a Rural Generalist (RG) Anaesthetist with the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS), contributing to both remote general practice and retrieval medicine. He also serves as a VMO RG Anaesthetist with Western NSW Local Health District.
Beyond his clinical work, Dr Nott is actively involved in numerous boards and committees, including the ACRRM Clinical Quality and Safety Council, ACRRM Digital Health Committee, WONCA Working Party on Rural Practice, WHO Roster of Digital Health Experts, and the NSW Health Virtual Care Steering Committee.
He is a board member of the Dubbo Area Nursing Service and has held non-Executive Director roles with the Australia Day Council for NSW, the Australian Medical Students Association, and Future Health Leaders.
Dr Nott’s experience includes senior medical leadership positions, currently as Chief Medical Officer and Executive General Manager for Health and Clinical Services at RFDS South Eastern Section. He previously served as Rural Health Director of Medical Services for Western NSW Local Health District and was appointed Clinical Director for the NSW Health Virtual Care Accelerator in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
As a Churchill Fellow, Dr Nott conducted research on the role of telehealth in delivering care to remote communities, which has seen him progress multiple programs to support rural and remote communities. He is also a facilitator for ACRRM courses, including REST, ALS2, and PHEC, and serves as an ACRRM supervisor.
