The Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM) is pleased to welcome three new members to the College Board of Directors.
Dr Anthony Carpenter, Mandy Anderson and Margot Richardson bring valuable expertise and new skill sets to the organisation, bolstering the governance structure.
Dr Carpenter, a Fellow of the College, has been appointed to fill the vacant position of a Council-appointed Director. This opportunity arose when Dr Dan Halliday, now ACRRM President assumed his new role. Anthony holds extensive experience in hospitals and communities in every Australian state and territory, the Pacific, northern and sub-Saharan Africa and the Middle East.
Mandy Anderson and Margot Richardson have been appointed to newly created positions on the College Board. Their diverse backgrounds and extensive knowledge in their respective fields will enhance the College's ability to address members’ needs effectively.
Mandy brings to ACRRM more than 23 years of board and executive experience, most recently as CEO and Managing Director of Medical Insurance Group Australia (MIGA). As the CEO and Managing Director of MIGA, Mandy established and drove its very successful national growth strategy across two decades.
Margot Richardson boasts over two decades of board-level experience in various sectors, encompassing government, not-for-profit (NFP), and commercial organisations.
The College would also like to congratulate Dr Danielle Dries on her new appointment to Deputy Chair of the College Council. She joins Brynnie Goodwill, Deputy Chair of the Board in completing the succession planning strategies for both governance structures.
Over the past year, ACRRM has experienced substantial growth. We have not only opened our doors to AGPT registrars for direct training with the College but have also expanded our presence in regions across Australia. These new appointments bring significant executive expertise to assist with navigating the challenges associated with expansion and will help to create a platform to achieve strong and sustainable growth.
ACRRM president Dr Dan Halliday says ACRRM’s remarkable growth over the past year has led to the need to expand the number of representatives on the Board.
“In addition to welcoming AGPT registrars to train directly with the College, we have established a presence in regions throughout Australia and opened CPD Home to the market,” Dr Halliday explains.
“The appointment of these new directors aligns with the College’s commitment to building an inclusive and skill-based board.
“The thorough recruitment process ensured that candidates with the necessary expertise were selected. Dr Carpenter, Mandy Anderson, and Margot Richardson possess a strong understanding of the challenges faced by medical professionals in rural areas, and their appointment will further the College's vision of having the right doctors in the right places, with the right skills, providing rural, remote and First Nations Peoples with excellent healthcare.”
