ACRRM will open elections for the role of President on Monday 5 August.
Two candidates have nominated to lead the College; Dr Emily Harrison and Dr Rod Martin.
Both currently serve on the ACRRM College Council.
Current President Dr Dan Halliday, who completes his term at the College’s Annual General Meeting in October, says both candidates demonstrate a real commitment to ACRRM and the Rural Generalist profession.
“The role of president is a fulfilling journey and one which has great influence on the future of rural generalism and the healthcare needs of rural, remote and First Nations communities.
“The two candidates are experienced advocates, and through their experience on the College Council have a thorough understanding of ACRRM and our strategic direction.
“With ACRRM-led training now embedded across the nation, and a new strategic plan, the College is entering a new era.
“I encourage all members to exercise their right to vote and have a say in who they think will best lead the College over the next two years.
“Your vote influences the leadership that will guide initiatives, activities, policies, and programs aimed at advancing healthcare for rural, remote and First Nations communities,” he says.
The election will close on Monday 26 August.
Eligible members will receive how-to-vote information from the independent Australian Election Company in coming days.
