Members of the ACRRM College Council travelled to Brisbane for a productive weekend meeting and workshop on May 11-12. The weekend started on a positive note with a successful informal networking reception for College members and a range of representatives from stakeholder organisations including Queensland Health; the Rural Workforce Agency (Health Workforce Queensland); the Rural Doctors Association of Queensland and the state branch of the Australian Medical Association.

During the course of the weekend Council members were fully engaged in strategic planning and policy discussions and received updates on a range of College projects and activities. Training and supervision formed an important part of the agenda with welcome input from the registrar and future generalist members of Council as well as Councillors who are involved in teaching and supervision.

We were also pleased to welcome community and consumer representatives. Ms Annabelle Brayley (who is also a member of the College Board); and Ms Susi Tegen, provided a valuable perspective and ensured that discussions never lost sight of the College vision: ‘The right doctors, in the right places with the right skills, providing rural and remote people with excellent health care’.
