The College has been invited to provide nominees to two important national General Practice Committees; The General Practice Accrediting Agency Approval Assessment Panel and the Practice Incentive Program Advisory Group (PIPAG) – Data Governance Sub-Committee. Expressions of interest for both Committees will close Friday 27 September.

We would particularly welcome interest from Fellows who either own or are experienced in the management of a private general practice; have the capacity to attend meetings and participate fully in the business of the Committee; and report back to the College within the boundaries of confidentiality requirements.

GENERAL PRACTICE ACCREDITING AGENCY APPROVAL ASSESSMENT PANEL

The General Practice Accrediting Agency Approval Panel has been established by the Australian Commission on Quality and Safety in Health Care (ACQSHC) to approve accrediting agencies seeking to assess and accredit health services to the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) Standards for General Practice. More information on the approvals process is available here.

The role of the Panel is to:

  1. Assess written applications for each accrediting agency against criteria developed by the Coordinating Committee, including the Commission and the RACGP.
  2. Interview applicants, as necessary, to determine an agency’s ability to meet requirements under the National General Practice Accreditation Scheme.
  3. Identify agencies that may not meet criteria for approval and any issues of concern relating to their ability to accredit to the RACGP Standards.
  4. Make recommendations to the Chief Executive Officer of the Commission on the awarding of approvals.
  5. Provide any necessary information to an external review or appeals process initiated by an accrediting agency.

The approval round closes Friday 11 October, therefore most of the work will occur between mid-October - early December.  The volume of work will be largely dependent on the number of applications for approval which are received by the Commission. Please see the draft Terms of Reference here.

PRACTICE INCENTIVE PROGRAM ADVISORY GROUP (PIPAG) - DATA GOVERNANCE SUB-COMMITTEE

This is an important committee which provides practical and clinically relevant advice to assist the PIPAG and the Department of Health on the management, use and interpretation of general practice data collected as part of the PIP Quality Improvement Incentive.

We are seeking a Fellow has some interest and experience in the use of data to drive quality improvement; technical knowledge; and familiarity with existing data collection processes.

Committee meetings will be held quarterly, either face-to-face in Canberra, or by teleconference.

There may be some out of session work. Some costs may be funded by the Department of Health.

If you are interested, please provide a current CV and a short outline of your relevant skills and experience to Jenny Johnson at j.johnson@acrrm.org.au
