The Gastroenterology Society of Australia (GESA) has notified ACRRM that this Program has been suspended until 30 September 2020. Hospital administrators and credentialing staff should be aware that the current situation provides challenges for colonoscopists as non-critical procedures, per government guidelines, are unlikely to be performed during the period of the COVID-19 pandemic.

What this means is:

  • Practitioners who are currently recertified will have their recertification anniversary extended by six months.
  • Other practitioners may still enrol, log procedures and submit applications during this period but processing may be delayed. Practitioners may continue to provide evidence to credentialing officers that are actively involved in the program.

Updates specific to the practice of and care for gastroenterology and hepatology patients during the COVID-19 pandemic are made regularly on the GESA website.
