The Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care has released a Discussion Paper on Quality Use of Medicines in the Aged Care Sector. This is part of a larger project to develop a national baseline report for the Quality Use of Medicines and Medicines Safety National Health Priority Area.
The Discussion Paper covers the topic areas of focus are polypharmacy, transitions of care and use of antipsychotic medicines in residential aged care facilities. The Commission is seeking input from stakeholders regarding current projects and programs addressing the three topic areas.
ACRRM will be providing a submission and would welcome input from members. Please provide any comments to j.johnson@acrrm.org.au by Friday, 25 September.
Members can also make individual submissions before Friday 2 October 2020. Responses can be made via email to medsafety@safetyandquality.gov.au or via a survey.
