Highlight news

Since the availability of electronic prescribing in May there has been a rapid increase in the number of prescriptions produced electronically instead of on paper.  The recent focus of the roll out has been the greater Melbourne area and there are trial sites running in each state resulting in over 100,000 ePrescriptions generated so far.

Three more prescribing software systems are now conformant in addition to Best Practice, Medical Director and Zedmed. These are MMeX, Medtech and StatHealth.

The roll out is being managed in staged approach requiring both prescribers and dispensers to be ready for electronic prescribing. More information is available on the ACRRM webpage. Members should contact their software vendor to confirm when electronic prescribing might be available.

We received this update from MMeX and Zedmed:

ISA Healthcare's MMEx web-based electronic medical record is conformant with version 2.2.1 of the electronic prescribing conformance profile. v2.2.1 is the updated version and includes several additional features such as jurisdiction specific descriptions for authority scripts. MMEx is integrated with Prescription Exchange Service MediSecure, which is also listed as conformant with v2.2.1.  A release is expected in late September, when MMEx users will be able to send an electronic script as a token to a patient via SMS or email. Active script list (ASL) features will be released later in the year. MMEx is delivered as software as a service (SaaS). All customers will always be using the latest version, so there is no need for customers to install updates themselves.

The accelerated ePrescribing development program has been an important component in the Federal Government’s Covid management plan. Zedmed has been pleased to work alongside the countless industry participants who worked tirelessly to bring this key functionality to our clients and the medical industry as a whole. We’re looking forward to seeing expanded use of the functionality across the country as the rollout plan continues to gain momentum. More information is available here.
