ACRRM has been invited to participate in the upcoming review of Assessing Fitness to Drive, including an invitation to nominate a representative to participate in the project advisory group. 
 
The National Transport Commission (NTC) and Austroads are reviewing Assessing Fitness to Drive (AFTD), the medical standards that inform driver licensing. The purpose of the review is to ensure that these standards represent best-practice, are up to date and meet the needs of users.  
 
The NTC will establish an AFTD advisory group to provide input and guidance during this review. Participants will represent key stakeholders including medical and health practitioners, road industry stakeholders, and licensing authorities. The advisory group will contribute additional expertise and oversight to ensure the review objectives are met. Further information about the advisory group are set out in the Terms of Reference. 

We are seeking a nominee to the advisory group who:

  • can provide subject matter expertise
  • as applied knowledge related to medical fitness to drive 
  • possesses an understanding of the intersection between the health and road safety systems  
  • has experience working with external medical/health stakeholder groups. 

The anticipated commitment for members of the advisory group is up to 22.5 hours over 12 months with appropriate remuneration.
