The Benefits Integrity and Digital Health Division of the Department of Health has advised the College that it intends to contact some GPs within the next week regarding potentially non-compliant claiming patterns for MBS telehealth services. Based on previous discussions with the Department, we understand that only a small number of rural and remote practitioners are likely to be involved.
The College continues to engage with the Department to ensure that, in implementing these campaigns, the circumstances of rural and remote practice and the interests of our members are considered. We have also advocated for due consideration of the increased pressure under which many practices have been operating, particularly during the COVID pandemic. This advocacy has resulted in considerable modifications to the original campaign proposal.
Please email the College at policy@acrrm.org.au if you receive a letter and have concerns about its contents.
