The College has now completed its scheduled Australian Medical Council (AMC) Comprehensive Accreditation Assessment and awaits advice on outcomes. Over the next few months, the assessment reports will be tabled through the AMC’s committees structures, then to the Medical Board of Australia for final endorsement.

The Comprehensive Accreditation process has been rigorous involving the submission of hundreds of pages of report information, a range of national surveys, and a program of some fifty meetings held over October with upwards of 150 people, including members and stakeholders in all states and territories, and over 20 meetings with ACRRM staff and governance committees.

The College extends its sincere thanks to the many people that have given up their time to take part in these meetings.

It has been exciting to have had the opportunity to celebrate the work of ACRRM and the continuous improvement of our programs.  The College takes great pride in having been represented by the incredible registrars, committee members, supervisors, medical educators, practice managers, staff and other program supporters that are the heart of who we are and what we do.

We found the process to be a very positive one and would like to commend the AMC Assessment Team for the collegial manner in which the assessment was conducted.  The College looks forward to receiving the Accreditation Report in 2022 and to continuing to ensure our specialty programs and services remain best practice.

Successful AMC accreditation of ACRRM and our education programs is a regulatory requirement for ongoing recognition and registration requirements under the National Law. Accreditation is a continuous process which involves both annual assessments and comprehensive assessments every 3-5 years. ACRRM programs were provisionally accredited in 2007 and fully accredited in 2011. The College has maintained full accreditation status ever since. Our most recent accreditation advice in 2019 found the College maintained its accreditation with no conditions or outstanding recommendations for improvement. Further information on our AMC accreditation including our assessment report is available here
