Emergency Medicine Theory and Practice (EMTP) is a 14-week ACRRM accredited certificate course delivered by Alfred Health and Monash University.
The innovative online format provides a practical opportunity for rural and remote clinicians to explore core EM theory, practice skills via simulation and case discussion, and develop a toolkit to deliver confident and effective emergency care. Supervision is provided remotely by expert emergency physicians with no requirement for clinical oversight from your local team.
This course will enhance students’ knowledge and evidence-base for core EM topics. It will bring you up to speed with current literature, teach you how to apply this in your clinical setting, and give you the tools and techniques needed to stay up to date. EMTP will also teach you how to reflect on your practice and think critically in a way that is useful on the frontline - facilitating collaborative learning and sharing of experience and knowledge with peers and faculty along the way.
The course draws upon a variety of resources including core text, latest and landmark literature, and open-access resources. It is delivered by passionate faculty members with diverse clinical experience. It is currently taught 100% online, offering a highly engaging and interactive experience through online discussion, tutorials and expert masterclasses.
EMTP is recommended for ACCRM trainees and fellows, and any medical practitioner responsible for emergency care. Previous cohorts reviewed the course as highly valuable in assisting them to deliver excellent healthcare to their communities.
EMTP can be completed as a standalone certificate, or for postgraduate credits.
The course CPD hours are: 103 Educational Activity hours, 7 Performance Review hours and 6 Emergency medicine MOPs hours.
