Quit Centre is a new evidence-based portal developed by and for health professionals to support their patients’ smoking and vaping cessation. Funded by the Australian Government, Quit Centre will develop and disseminate training and resources which are designed to enable primary health professionals to provide smoking and vaping cessation support as part of their routine care. The online training for GPs is accredited for CPD, free, easy to navigate and includes referral pathways to Quitline.
“Smoking rates in rural and regional areas are almost twice as high as cities, so death rates and disease burden are felt much more acutely,” says ACRRM President Dr Sarah Chalmers.
“We’re delighted to partner with Quit on this initiative that will upskill rural and remote GPs to have a simple, brief conversation with their patients and offer effective support to help them stop smoking and vaping” she said.
