ACRRM, in collaboration with the Victorian Rural Generalist Program (VRGP) and the Joint Consultative Committee on Anaesthesia (JCCA), oversaw the successful running of the Victorian JCCA’s first ever online exam recently. The exam was conducted virtually from the College’s national office in Brisbane, allowing ACRRM to facilitate the exam delivery and the invigilation, on behalf of the VRGP.
It required a great team effort to ensure everything ran smoothly for the nine candidates sitting the exam on the day, with six FANZCA specialist examiners, six GP anaesthetist examiners and seven ACRRM staff operating under the oversight of VRGP clinical lead Dr Greg Coates and ACRRM Assessment Manager Laura Cotrone.
The successful delivery of the exam is testament to the agile, flexible approach ACRRM has taken to progressing assessments during the global pandemic. It also highlights the value of the robust, tested exam format the College has refined since its first virtual exam held in May 2020.
All this experience provides a solid foundation for ongoing JCCA Diploma / Advanced Skills Training (AST) assessments which may require national virtual delivery into the future, depending on the outcome of the transition from the JCCA to the Diploma of Rural Generalist Anaesthesia.
