The QIMR Medical Research Institute has been funded by Cancer Australia to undertake a project to develop tools and guidelines for the early diagnosis of pancreatic cancer.

It focuses on the first two priorities set out in the National Pancreatic Cancer Roadmap:

• Ensuring people at high risk of developing pancreatic cancer are identified and referred for surveillance
• Reducing delayed diagnosis in people with potential symptoms of pancreatic cancer. The overarching aim is to increase the proportion of people diagnosed with localised, rather than advanced, pancreatic cancer.

In acknowledgement of the need to include the rural and remote perspective, the College has been invited to nominate representatives to the project advisory groups.

Members are invited to express interest in either or both of the two guidelines working groups for these priorities.  It is anticipated that each working group will involve 1-3 online meetings (around 2 hours each), with some extra feedback via email. It is not anticipated that the total time will be more than 10-20 hours.

Working group members will be compensated for their time by approximately $1500, but it will vary somewhat depending on how many meetings and additional time is required.
