This week, several ACRRM Fellows have been recognised for their dedicated service to medicine and society in the King’s Birthday Honours list. We congratulate the following Fellows who have been awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia, (OAM) for service worthy of particular recognition, including:
Dr Diana Coote, Warialda NSW, for service to medicine
Dr William Ian Cameron, Newcastle NSW for service to medical administration, and to rural and Indigenous health
Dr Mary Louise Dunne, Woorabinda, Qld, for service to medicine through a range of roles
Dr Clement Gordon, Warialda NSW for service to medicine, and to the community.
Dr Michael Monsour, of Maryborough Qld for service to medicine
Dr Stephen Morris, of Parkes NSW For service to medicine
Dr Gerard Quigley, of Lower Eyre for service to medicine
President Dr Dan Halliday says it is pleasing to see so many specialist rural General Practitioners (GPs) and Rural Generalists (RGs) recognised for their contribution to rural medicine and the healthcare of their communities.
The College also acknowledges Prof Michael Kidd who was recognised as an Officer of the Order of Australia for distinguished service in medical administration and community health, to primary care leadership, and to tertiary education. He was pivotal in the work he undertook throughout the COVID19 pandemic, including his engagement with the College, and rural and remote GP’s and their communities.
