The Respectful Workplaces Committee facilitates the sharing of ideas and information throughout the College; supports the implementation of the Respectful Workplaces Framework; and advocates for appropriate working environments for our members.  The Committee met last week to discuss actions arising from the recent workshop at RMA23. It is clear that ACRRM members would like to see the College setting standards for what a Respectful Workplace looks like, and providing resources and support to members to assist them via advocacy, mediation and remediation.

The Committee provides advice on College operations and activities as part of its continuous quality improvement in promoting and upholding respectful workplaces.  This includes fostering and upholding a culture of belonging; where diversity is celebrated and people can reach their full potential.

The Committee supports a proactive, strength-based approach to achieving workplace diversity and promoting a culture of respectful workplaces.  It acknowledges the importance of achieving diversity in medical leadership, including in workplaces and within Colleges and other institutions.

Respectful workplaces are built through the values we hold and the way we behave towards each other every day. The health and wellbeing of members is important to us, and the College is strongly committed to delivering wellbeing support to all members using a holistic approach. ACRRM’s Wellbeing Coordinator Paul Townsley is working closely with the Respectful Workplaces Committee to champion the framework across the College, as well as developing a range of supports to strengthen the College’s capacity to provide wellbeing services to our members.

The College also provides 24/7 Wellbeing Support through its Employee Assistance Program (EAP). Members experiencing workplace, training, exam, or other stresses or issues impacting personal wellbeing can call ACRRM’s EAP line, which provides free of charge immediate, confidential counselling and support on 1800 818 728.
