The Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM) is proud to announce Dr Tom Doolan of Toowoomba, Queensland, as a recipient of the 2024 Distinguished Service Award in recognition of his leadership and commitment to rural medical education and care. 

Dr Doolan, a founding Fellow and Life Fellow of ACRRM, has chaired the College’s Education and Training Committee since its inception, marking 2024 as his final year in the role.  

ACRRM president Dr Rod Martin says Dr Doolan has been a key figure in shaping the College Curriculum and has provided outstanding medical care for over 44 years in Kilcoy.  

“As a mentor and supervisor, Dr Doolan has guided countless registrars through their Fellowship training, leaving a lasting legacy in rural generalism,” Dr Martin says. 

"His contributions to both the College and rural healthcare are immeasurable.  

"He has been a tireless advocate for rural generalism, and his influence will be felt for generations to come." 

Dr Doolan received his award at the 2024 Rural Medicine Australia (RMA) conference in Garramilla (Darwin).
