Queensland Health has issued updates on the changes to Health (Drugs & Poisons) Regulation 1996 and the Provision of antiviral medication for influenza outbreaks in residential aged care facilities.

Health (Drugs and Poisons) Regulation 1996

The College has received a letter regarding these changes, which came into effect on 1 July 2019. They will impact on the regulation of Schedule 8 (S8) drugs of dependence and are designed to streamline certain regulatory requirements. Letter from CHO HOLAB Changes for Professional Associations

Changes include:

  • Provision of antiviral medication for influenza outbreaks in residential aged care facilities
  • Aged care notification processes to Public Health Units.
