The Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM) is surprised and disappointed to learn that GP Synergy has forged an agreement with RACGP proposing to amend their ownership structure to allow RACGP to take over their organisation, including training registrars, and all assets.

GP Synergy advised ACRRM of this news by telephone call on Tuesday afternoon. We understand that the Government and Department of Health were also unaware of these negotiations until Tuesday.

The proposal has been developed without any consultation with ACRRM at any stage.

ACRRM is anxious to ensure the professional and personal wellbeing of our GP Synergy registrars, supervisors and training practices are appropriately prioritised and safeguarded as part of any potential changes to the governance or delivery of AGPT training in NSW.

We are currently seeking additional information and engagement with GP Synergy and the RACGP so we can assess the impact and implications of the proposal.  We will communicate openly with our NSW registrars, members and their support teams once we know more.
