The College has been invited to put forward a nominee for consideration for appointment to the Medical Council of NSW. The appointment will be for three years commencing on Friday 1 July 2022.

The Council’s main responsibility is to protect the public by regulating the profession. The Council does this by working in partnership with the Health Care Complaints Commission to manage complaints about the health, performance and conduct of registered practitioners in NSW. Council members should be able to demonstrate integrity; impartiality; open-mindedness; sound judgment; knowledge of the rules of procedural fairness and natural justice; and have an appreciation of the need for quality and consistency in decision-making. In addition, members should have the ability to apply legislation and demonstrate effective and proactive teamwork.
