Services Australia is expediting processes due to the recent extreme weather events occurring in New South Wales and Queensland, to ensure continued care is provided for patients in disaster affected areas.

The process is only applicable for providers in affected flood areas within New South Wales and Queensland, and will only be available  Thursday 31 March 2022.

If you have been affected by the recent floods, and are an unrestricted provider (not working under a 3GA training placement and/or 19AB exemption), you can continue to use your current provider number if:

  • you can’t get access to your practice or it has been destroyed and
  • you are now required to practice at a temporary location such as an evacuation centre

Please be aware that the below process is only for providers applying for a new provider location.

Expediting process:

1. The medical practitioner completes, signs and emails the application form to provider.registration@servicesaustralia.gov.au.

2. The medical practitioner calls 132 150 and advises they are in a flood impacted area and require their application to be processed as a priority

3. A Services Australia Service Officer will locate their application and arrange for its urgent assessment. The Service Officer will also call the medical practitioner back to advise the outcome/provider number.

Note: If the medical practitioner does not have access to the facilities required to submit an application, relevant details will be recorded and another Services Australia Officer will call the medical practitioner back to discuss the options available to them.
