The Department of Health has invited the College to nominate a representative to participate in the National Initial Assessment and Referral (IAR) Project Expert Advisory Group (EAG). The role of the IAR EAG is to ensure the project is clinically sound and evidence-based by providing expert advice regarding the development of national guidance and resources.

The IAR is a tool to assist General Practitioners and clinicians to recommend the most appropriate level of mental health care for a consumer. It is an initiative of the Australian Department of Health and provides advice to Primary Health Networks, commissioned providers, general practitioners, and referrers on establishing effective systems for the initial assessment and referral of individuals presenting with mental health conditions in primary health care settings.

More information is available in the Terms of Reference. The Expert Advisory Group will meet via video conference every 8-12 weeks. Out of session engagement and work is likely.

Please contact policy@acrrm.org.au by Monday 11 April if you are interested in this role. It would be useful to include a current CV or a short outline of any relevant qualifications and experience.

The College appreciates the contribution of members who take on these representational roles.
