The Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM) is pleased to announce Dr Daniel Wilson has been appointed as a director on the ACRRM Board.

Dr Wilson is an ACRRM Registrar with advanced skills in obstetrics, completing his Rural Generalist training in Maryborough, Victoria. His appointment, together with that of our existing registrar-elected director on the Board Dr Danielle Dries, ensures our Registrars’ views and experience are central to our decision making during this critical period of Australian General Practice Training (AGPT) transition to College-led Training.

Dr Wilson has played key representative and advocacy roles as a member of the Australian Medical Association Council of Doctors in Training for a number of years, including as a member of the Commonwealth Ministerial GP Training Advisory Council and Transition to College-led Training Advisory Committee. He is also a Non-Executive Director of the Rural Doctors Association Victoria, with a comprehensive understanding of industrial and workforce issues across the state.

Dr Wilson holds an Associate Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators (AFRACMA), Certificate in Governance & Risk Management from the Governance Institute of Australia, and is Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD).

Dr Wilson’s clinical interests include core rural generalist practice with special interests in women’s health, sexual health and trans* health, education and medical leadership.

The appointment of Dr Wilson is now effective, coinciding with Dr Michelle Hannan’s resignation from the Board. The Board and College Council thank Dr Hannan for her contribution to the governance and leadership of the College through various roles including initially as registrar-elected Director on the Board from 2017 to 2020 and subsequently as College Council appointed Director in 2020.
