The College has been invited to nominate a representative to this Advisory Group.

Quit has recently established a National Quit Training and Resource Centre for Nicotine Cessation with funding from the Commonwealth Department of Health. The Centre has been established to support the implementation of the smoking cessation clinical guidelines produced the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) and Pharmaceutical Society of Australia (PSA).

The primary goal of the Quit Centre is to facilitate provision of best practice smoking and vaping cessation as routine practice in primary care settings. This will be achieved by collaboration with key stakeholders to develop and disseminate a comprehensive suite of training and resources to upskill and support primary care professionals such as general practitioners, guided by an advisory group.

The role of the advisory group is to:

  • Advise Quit of emerging general practice issues and/or knowledge gaps as they relate to smoking and vaping cessation care
  • Assist Quit to identify any training and/or resource requirements for general practice
  • Provide guidance to Quit through timely provision of feedback on training and/or resources for general practice
  • Consider any matter referred to it by the Quit Centre Advisory Committee.

Meetings will be held in May 2022, November 2022 and May 2023. Members will be reimbursed for time.

If you are interested in this role, please contact policy@acrrm.org.au by Friday 22 April, including a current CV or outline of any relevant qualifications and experience.

The College appreciates the contribution of members who take on these roles.
