ACRRM has an important role in ensuring that our members, whether they be medical students, junior doctors, trainees, supervisors or Fellows, can train and work in settings which are safe, respectful, and supportive. The College also encourages members to prioritise their own health and wellbeing.
Fostering workplace cultures which value and support diversity, respect, inclusiveness, fairness and transparency is one of the College’s key strategic objectives.
The Respectful Workplaces Committee champions this work. It facilitates the sharing of ideas and information throughout the College; supports the implementation of its Respectful Workplaces policy framework; and advocates for appropriate working environments for our members. The Committee provides advice to the College Board and reports to both the Board and College Council.
Health and Wellbeing in Action at ACRRM
The College continues work across legislative frameworks to protect the health and wellbeing of members and staff. ACRRM is proactively developing actions in response to the release of Managing Psychosocial Hazards at Work Code of Practice 2022 and
the Every Doctor Every Setting framework to guide a coordinated action on the mental health of doctors and medical students. Building on the great work already in place with the Respectful Workplace committee, the College will be further developing and implementing:
These changes will only strengthen our position to ensure psychological health risks are eliminated or minimised for both staff and members.

Members experiencing workplace, training, exam, or other stresses or issues impacting personal wellbeing can call ACRRM’s EAP line, which provides free of charge immediate, confidential counselling and support on 1800 818 728.
