ACRRM is pleased to welcome Dr Alice Fitzgerald as a Council-appointed Director to the College Board.

Dr Fitzgerald will take up the casual position until the 2026 Annual General Meeting.

In addition to her role as a Rural Generalist specialising in obstetrics in Kununurra, WA, she is a medical educator, supervisor, and examiner for ACRRM.

“I am very much looking forward to working with the very experienced group of ACRRM Board Directors,” Dr Fitzgerald says.

“I am committed to ensuring that our members are well-supported and that their voices are heard at the highest levels of decision-making.

“I have been the Western Australian representative on the College Council and am keen to play a role in helping the College to meet its strategic vision of achieving healthy rural, remote, and First Nations communities through excellence, social accountability, and innovation.

“In my work across private general practice, the Rural Clinical School, and WA country health service, I've engaged with a broad range of stakeholders and gained a solid understanding of community needs. I hope to bring this experience to my role on the board.”

Dr Fitzgerald also brings experience in leadership and clinical governance.

“Balancing a career as a Rural Generalist, a mother and representative on the Board of Directors is a unique and rewarding challenge,” Dr Fitzgerald adds.

“I am passionate about mentoring the next generation of rural doctors and fostering an environment where they can thrive.

“I'm excited to be part of ACRRM, an organisation that is crucial in shaping the future of rural and remote healthcare in Australia.”
