The Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM) is pleased to announce that Dr Neil Beaton of Atherton, Queensland, has been awarded the 2024 Distinguished Service Award for his exceptional contributions to Rural Generalist Anaesthesia.
As Chair of ACRRM’s Anaesthetic Expert Reference Group, Dr Beaton played a pivotal role in the creation of the Advanced Certificate in Rural Generalist Anaesthesia (ACRGA), which has had a profound impact on anaesthetic service delivery in rural Queensland.
His advocacy has been instrumental in uniting Rural Generalist Anaesthetists (RGAs) across the country, ensuring continuity of care in remote areas.
"Dr Beaton has been a trailblazer in the field of Rural Generalist Anaesthesia," says ACRRM President, Dr Rod Martin.
"His vision and leadership have inspired many doctors and greatly improved healthcare access in rural Australia."
Dr Beaton received his award at the 2024 Rural Medicine Australia (RMA) conference in Garramilla (Darwin).
