The AMC is consulting on the draft model accreditation standards and procedures for specialist medical college accreditation of training settings.  Registrars, supervisors, practice managers, and other training post staff are all invited to provide feedback to include in our ACRRM submission and are also able to make individual submissions.

The consultation closes on 11 November, information is available on the AMC website here. To provide feedback to the ACRRM submission or for any enquiries, please contact the policy team at policy@acrrm.org.au.

The development of these documents is part of the joint AMC/specialist medical college project to implement Ministerial Policy Direction 2023-01 responding to the recommendations contained in their 2023 National Health Practitioner Ombudsman (NHPO) Report. An impact assessment for the development of model standards has been prepared and is available for download.

ACRRM representatives are continuing to work with the national governance body and working party, to ensure these recommendations progress in a manner that incorporates the unique and diverse perspectives of rural and remote training.

The process began at the beginning of the year and the national standards are set for implementation at the beginning of 2025. ACRRM recognises that this is a very short time frame for consulting and ensuring changes reflect needs and are without adverse consequences.

We have indicated our concerns regarding the short timeframe for consultation and will convey any key points of feedback received after the consultation closes.
