The Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM) is delighted to welcome Dr Sarah Chalmers, former ACRRM President, as the President Elect of the Rural Doctors Association of Australia (RDAA).

Dr Chalmers will spend the next year shadowing current RDAA President Dr RT Lewandowski during his final term, before stepping into the role in October 2025.

ACRRM President Dr Rod Martin congratulates Dr Chalmers on her successful election and expressed his enthusiasm for the shared vision between our oganisations.

“Dr Chalmers brings a wealth of experience, having dedicated her career to working as a Rural Generalist in rural, remote and First Nations communities.

“Her deep understanding of the challenges and unique strengths within these communities has helped shape national health policy reform which has a direct impact on improving health outcomes in areas most in need,” he says.

Dr Martin further emphasises ACRRM’s appreciation of its strong partnership with RDAA, stating: “We value our close working relationship with the RDAA to ensure that rural voices are heard at all levels of government and throughout the health system.

“The synergy between our organisations is vital for advocating effective policies and sustainable healthcare models that serve Australia’s rural and remote populations.”

ACRRM looks forward to working alongside Dr Chalmers in her new role to continue championing the interests and wellbeing of Rural Generalists and the communities where they live and work.
