The Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM) Rural Generalists are showcasing their work in World Extreme Medicine (WEM) podcasts, highlighting the challenges and triumphs of healthcare professionals working in extreme, rural, and remote environments across the globe. 

Hosted by WEM, the podcast episodes explore topics: 

  • From desert to delivery: Life as Australia's outback Doctor with Dr Marian Dover. 

  • The evolution of remote and rural healthcare in Australia with Dr Claire Arundell. 

  • Event medicine in the great outback with Dr Prashan Kuruppu. 

  • Practicing medicine and emergency immunisation clinics in Central Queensland with Dr Ewan McPhee. 

More episodes will be released throughout 2025, covering a range of topics relevant to Rural Generalists worldwide. 

The series will also provide updates on key ACRRM initiatives, including Rural Generalist Medicine recognition and continuing professional development (CPD) programs, reinforcing ACRRM's commitment to advancing rural and remote healthcare. 

The first episode, featuring Dr Marian Dover, releases January 2025. This collaboration offers ACRRM members a global platform to share their expertise while showcasing the vital work being done in rural and extreme medical fields across Australia.
